I look forward to your eventual extension of the lists to the 1900s and 1910s. And also to your eventual encounter with the films of Abbas Kiarostami. No hurry on any of this.
ReplyDeleteMy ten best of the 1900s:
A Trip to the Moon, Méliès, 1902
Dream of a Rarebit Fiend, Porter, 1906
Joyous Microbes, Cohl, 1909
The Great Train Robbery, Porter, 1903
The Man with the Rubber Head, Méliès, 1901
Rescued by Rover, Hepworth, 1905
The History of a Crime, Zecca, 1901
And, um, three more probably also by Méliès.
Nice.
DeleteWhat about the other decades? :D
I will, at some point. I haven't even watched that many films from the 1930s.
And I've seen 1 film by Abbas Kiarostami. Certified Copy. Thought it was rather interesting, but now I've forgotten it.
I realized that I have hardly seen anything from the 1910s. Films suddenly get much, much longer around 1910. It's easier to see a lot of movies when they're five minutes long.
DeleteWhat the heck is Certified Copy? Ah, Kiarostami's French movie. You want his Iranian movies!
Okay. I'll check out his Iranian films... some day.
