"Fever"- Peggy Lee

  1. Di,

One of my favorites by her. Others are "Is That All There Is?" and "Pass Me By" (at least I think that's the title).

    1. That's the title, yeah. I don't like them very much though, can't say why.

    2. Fred,
Have you listened to Beyoncé's version of this song?

  2. Di,

No I haven't. I've heard others years ago, but the only version I have at home is Peggy Lee's. It's seldom heard on the radio now.

    2. Di,

She tries hard, but she's not Peggy Lee.

    1. I was thinking, on this song. But you could talk about her singing in general too.

    2. Di,

She's ok. There are better singers and dancers around, which is why, I suspect, she acts so outrageously at times. I think that is the basis for her status--those elements outside of her talent.

I don't know whether it is she or her advisers, but she maintains her status because of behavior, not because of her singing and dancing.

    3. Ah, that applies to lots of, if not most, pop singers too. Have you seen Miley Cyrus? Or Lady Gaga? Or Rihanna?
I think Madonna does have a good voice though. Of course I'm not comparing her to, say, Celine Dion or Whitney Houston. But her songs in "Evita" are very very good. I'm tempted to say, better than everything else she has sung, but of course I haven't listened to every single song of hers.

  4. Di,

I really don't follow contemporary pop music anymore. I know the names of many of them, but I wouldn't recognize any of them if I heard them.

    1. Ah, I see. I don't really follow it either, but still know some names and recognise some singers and songs.
