  1. I like your choices; I would add The Caine Mutiny (because of my career in the U.S. Navy) and Inherit the Wind (in spite of its inaccuracies) if I were making such a list.

  2. Di.

_Witness for the Prosecution_ would have to be my No. 1 film

_12 Angry Men_ would be a close second, so much so that I found and watched the Russian version, _12_, and the version from India, _Ek Ruka Hua Faisla_.

I did a brief commentary on the three films on Jan. 24, 2014.

  3. R.T., I haven't seen The Caine Mutiny and Inherit the Wind. In fact, I haven't heard of them. Thanks for the mention. Will see if the library has them.
Fred, indeed, those 2 films are perfect. These days Vietnamese facebookers are talking about a murder case (6 people killed) and I've been referring a lot to 12 Angry Men because the case seems problematic, the police insist on their guilt, the press refer to the 2 guys arrested as the killers/ perpetrators instead of "suspects" and people neither know the law nor understand the concept of reasonable doubt.
Thanks for the link. I'll check out your post.

  5. Does "Le Procès de Jeanne d'Arc" (dir. Robert Bresson) count?
