Blogspot policy changes

https://support.google.com/blogger/answer/6170671?p=policy_update&rd=1

"Starting March 23, 2015, you won't be able to publicly share images and video that are sexually explicit or show graphic nudity on Blogger."

All the nude photos on this blog will now be removed. However, I'm confused- there seems to be no guarantee that my blog will not be made private after the nudes have been deleted, so there is a possibility that I have to move my blog elsewhere.
I write this note to prepare you all for what might happen. More information later.
Thank you.

  1. Di,

The following suggests that you will be made private if you don't remove the nude photos by that date. If you have no nude photos on that date, then nothing will happen. At least that's the way I interpret it.

"If your existing blog does have sexually explicit or graphic nude images or video, your blog will be made private after March 23, 2015. No content will be deleted, but private content can only be seen by the owner or admins of the blog and the people who the owner has shared the blog with."

    1. I thought so, but I fear that perhaps I haven't removed everything, because my memory is horrible or there's something else I miss because it doesn't look like adult content to me. I'm also afraid there could be some mistake, like they have marked my blog before and think my blog still has the nude photos, or something....

  2. Di,

Yes, it's always difficult to deal with a large impersonal organization. A couple of years ago, I was blocked from accessing my blog and was told that I had violated some policy (I was never told which one.). I complained, etc. visited their blog and so on. A day later I got access back and all was well. I never was told what the problem was. I suspect somebody goofed and was afraid to admit it.

The following from the policy statement suggests that if you remove it before the date, nothing will happen.

"If your blog was created before March 23, 2015, and contains content that violates our new policy, you have a few options for changing your blog before the new policy starts:

Remove sexually explicit or graphic nude images or video from your blog

    Mark your blog as private"

  3. Dang. I don't see the problem with nude images (like Manet's painting) as long as it's not pornographic, or not leaking your enemy's nude photos. I mean, you could argue that nudity is art.

    1. Fb once removed about 50 photos from my "Nude art" album. Some imbecile reported them. (A short while later I published them all again, and more).
In this case it would be quite difficult to argue that it's art. It's not porn, and not exactly erotica, but they probably wouldn't see it as art.

    2. All the more reason to join Tumblr :P I don't think Tumblr has this hang-up about nudity. And not even "Respectable" stuff like oil paintings, you see pictures of people obviously trying to look erotic that get thousands of reblogs. The bad thing about Tumblr is that they love to go on hate rampages and expose people who annoy them, but unless you actively seek to broadcast your views to the world, the benefits outweigh the nuisances.

    3. I'm aware of that. There are lots of tumblr sites that post only porn, too.
      Tumblr's not for me though.

  4. Turns out, the new policy is not implemented:

    Now I'm annoyed.
