I liked There Will Be Blood in 2007 too, but I also have a real soft spot for The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, which is, I think a surprisingly effective existential telling of a fairly famous story. Very slow, and interesting dynamic. Casey Affleck is great, and it reminds me a little of a David Lean picture for some reason (I am not a film buff by any means, and I might be out on a limb with this).
