In first half of the book one clearly identifies two main characters. The first half gives so much details of both characters but I really as I proceeded to the second half the seems to have taken a strep and abrupt turn the book seems more about Daniel Deronda and gwendolen is jsut like any other character... It becomes all about Daniel's quest while the first half unquestionably had two main lead characters. Which is hard to digest why would someone invest so much in developing a character and then leave it like that. The book initially also seemed to adress two main issues the racism and gender inequality.
